CreuTech was proud to co-develop and deliver Create XR, a 12-week programme at the Wales Millennium Centre for young people aged 16–25.
Working alongside James Taylor, we designed a course that took participants on the full journey of creating an immersive project, starting with absolutely no prior development experience. Over three months they learned how to take an idea from an initial concept, through the stages of wireframing, project planning and teamwork, all the way to building a working prototype.
The programme placed equal emphasis on creative and professional skills. Participants were introduced to the basics of project management, developed and refined pitch decks, and presented their ideas directly to industry professionals for feedback. At the same time, they were hands-on with technology, learning how to build VR and AR experiences in Unity, experimenting in groups, and finding their own creative voice in immersive storytelling.
By the end of the 12 weeks, each group had developed a unique immersive project from scratch and shared it in a final showcase at the Millennium Centre. For many, it was their very first time working with game engines or XR tools, yet they produced ambitious, imaginative projects that reflected both their creativity and their ability to learn fast.
For CreuTech, Create XR demonstrated just how much potential there is in giving young people access to immersive processes. With the right support and space to experiment, complete beginners became confident creators, proving that the next generation is ready to shape the future of immersive technology.
