Careg Ateb: Vision or Dream. The National Gallery & Frân Wen

CreuTech was recently commissioned by the  The National Gallery to collaborate with Frân Wen Young Company on Careg Ateb: Vision or Dream, part of Jeremy Deller’s nationwide commission The Triumph of Art.

The aim was to create an immersive arts piece that not only explored themes of myth and transformation, but was also informed by young people’s voices. Our role at CreuTech was to design and run workshops that introduced participants to immersive tools and use these experiments to help shape the direction of the piece.

Working with the young company at Frân Wen, we explored how archetypes, story fragments and technology could be combined to reimagine local mythologies in a contemporary, immersive way. Their ideas and contributions fed into the creative development, ensuring that the final piece wasn’t just made for them, but with them.

The process culminated in a showing at MOSTYN Gallery in Llandudno, where the performance combined live theatre with immersive elements developed through the workshops. Seeing these worlds come together, national commission, local youth voices, traditional theatre and digital experimentation was a proud moment for everyone involved.

For us at CreuTech, Careg Ateb: Vision or Dream highlights what’s possible when young people, cultural organisations and creative technology meet, stories that feel both rooted in community and open to new forms of expression.
